Hello and welcome to the August edition of our newsletter.
We hope you are enjoying the summer and finding some time to relax and enjoy the outdoors with your family and friends.
This month we discuss the opportunities that exist outside the NHS for those looking for alternative healthcare careers. Originally written for Independent Practitioner Today, Jane Braithwaite looks at data that came from the BMA report earlier this summer, It said: ‘Thousands of exhausted doctors in the UK have told the BMA they are considering leaving the NHS in the next year, as many continue to battle stress and burnout without adequate respite from the exhaustion caused by the demands of the pandemic.’ Responses came from over 4,000 doctors.
We also look at some of the reasons why doctors and nurses are flocking to Instagram, finding new ways to reach and connect with their patients. If it’s something you’ve been considering as part of your marketing we encourage you to read the full article on our insights blog.
If there is anything we can help you with to lighten the load across PA, Accountancy, Marketing, HR & Recruitment, then please don’t hesitate to reach out.
Best wishes
Designated Medical Team
Hello and welcome to the June edition of our newsletter.
It has been a busy few months here at Designated Medical, and we are very much looking forward to the warmer summer months to re-charge the batteries. On the Medical PA side of the business, we have received an average of 4100 calls per month (over the past three months) and consistently answered 90% of these calls.
Medical PA’s can be a lifeline to busy consultants and healthcare workers, by taking away the long list of necessary but time-consuming administration tasks. This free’s up crucial time to offer extra support and care in the areas that really make a big difference to you and your patients.
In this month’s newsletter, we put the spotlight on one of our valuable clients, Richard Lee, Clinical Lead for the Ophthalmology service at Chelsea and Westminster. Richard is supported in his work by a Designated Medical PA.
It’s no secret that the pandemic has taken its toll on healthcare workers, so this month we look at how you can nurture your teams’ mental well-being, an insightful piece was written by our Managing Director, Jane Braithwaite and originally posted on Independent Practitioner Today, we encourage you to click through to read the complete article on our blog. As always, we are here to help you.

Welcome to May’s edition of Stay Connected.
We are feeling very positive about the month of May although it is still a bit cool for our liking, especially given that socialising needs to take place outdoors.
We read Laing Buisson’s new report, published during April, into the UK’s private self-pay market with great interest. The report describes an evidenced growth in the self-pay market. They predict that growth from insured patients will remain static for the foreseeable future but confidence in self pay is high, with 52% of those surveyed expecting the market to grow by 10-15% over the next 3 years.
We are seeing an increase in patient activity and the number of calls our Medical PA team is handling increasing week by week. Our recruitment team are also incredibly busy, recruiting new positions for a number of our clients. We see this as a real sign of confidence returning with private healthcare rebuilding post-Covid and planning for growth.
If you would like to know more about our HR and recruitment services please contact Hannah Smith via email at hannah@designatedgroup.com or 020 7952 1437.

Welcome to the February’s edition of Stay Connected.
In these challenging times patients are more anxious than ever about their healthcare and this month, as we approach Valentine’s Day, we want to share some love for our team of Medical PAs. Our Medical PAs have been working tirelessly throughout the Covid crisis, reassuring patients, cancelling clinics or changing face to face clinics to video clinics and managing the additional administration involved in Covid testing for patients.
Our Medical PAs know that one of the most critical ways in which they can relieve anxiety for patients is ensuring their calls are always answered and their questions and concerns handled with empathy and care. During January our team has answered 97% patients calls which is an outstanding call answering rate.
Our team’s great efforts have not gone unnoticed and our consultants are of course delighted. A huge thank you to each and every one of our Medical PA’s.
