He is also able to provide prostate diagnostic services for men with raised PSA (multi-parametric MRI and transperineal template mapping biopsy and targeted fusion biopsy). Our Challenge
Nim had a successful practice that was well established, and he came to Designated Medical wanting to have his PA and billing support under one roof and remove the need for multiple conversations with multiple companies. Nim was also concerned he was losing money via aged debt but didn’t have the time to resolve this himself. The aged debt for his practice was over £71,000, and some of this debt was related to treatments provided in 2019.
Our Designated Medical PA, Lucinda, runs Nim’s private practice using Semble as his Practice Management System. Lucinda is responsible for the day-to-day management of Nim’s practice, providing his patients with the highest quality patient experience and ensuring the practice is run efficiently.
At Designated Medical, we choose to separate billing from our Medical PAs for two reasons. Firstly, the Medical PA can better care for the patients if they do not need to discuss billing. Secondly, a specialist billing team is more effective at managing what is ultimately a finance function. We have a specialist billing team led by our Finance Director, Vicky, an expert accountant.
Our results
Our billing team set up Semble to effectively manage the billing processes and ensure the greatest efficiency. The team also integrated Semble with Xero to ensure effective financial management. Nim has his accountant who can access the reports on Xero to make yearend reporting easy and quick.
The team has been very effective at collecting the aged debt. Of the original £71,000, they have managed to collect £50, 000. Unfortunately, a considerable amount may have to be written off as it is too old to collect, although the team is still persisting in their efforts.
The current billing is managed efficiently, and there is no debt over 30 days, which is exemplary. Our Billing Specialist Emily oversees the daily billing on this account; she is a billing specialist and a fully trained medical secretary, which means we have expertise in every area.
Why Nim chose Designated Medical
“My PA Lucinda has been very efficient and thorough in her work. The patients have given good feedback, and she has always been accessible and available to my patients and myself. This is invaluable in private practice and is vital for my service. Designated Medical also have a wider team and the billing services led by Beckie and Emily for my practice have been excellent in their work as well. Separating the billing service from the secretarial service also helps with the efficient working of my practice and has undoubtedly made my life easier as well!”
