Gareth Stables is a consultant orthopaedic and specialist knee surgeon based in Cheshire with over 20 years of experience. Gareth has been looking after patients with knee problems for over ten years, helping many people get active, mobile and to live pain-free. Gareth chose to specialise in helping those with knee difficulties because, through his own personal research, he found that a consultant who specialises in one specific area tends to get better results.
Gareth and his team always aim to put their patients front and centre of what they do. He is dedicated to providing a first-class service to his patients, offering a sympathetic and understanding ear and doing everything he can to ensure his patients receive the best possible results.
Gareth sees private patients at The Spire Cheshire Hospital and The Wilmslow Hospital.
Our Challenge
Gareth had engaged the Designated Medical team to manage his practice and his patient billing. His Designated Medical PA Hannah and his billing manager Beckie were both doing a great job and he was delighted with the service provided. Gareth also had an accountant engaged to prepare his yearend accounts, but his bookkeeping was not being actively managed which was causing issues in terms of understanding the financial performance of his practice and potentially missing out the opportunity to claim some expenses.
Gareth was previously using an ad hoc service with a small billing company however he wanted to bring all services to the same level to ensure his patients receive the best patient experience from his practice.
Our Medical PA team had recommended that Gareth used the Semble Practice Management System, and this provides excellent functionality for medical billing. Our billing team set the system up to make billing as efficient as possible.
The main tasks involved in the ongoing management are raising and sending invoices, taking payments, and most importantly chasing down debtors to ensure maximum cash flow for Gareth.
Our Results
We had set up Semble as the Practice Management System for Gareth and used the system to manage his practice and billing. Semble also integrates with Xero which is a great finance system and so we set up Xero to provide more efficient financial management. Xero has a live feed to the practice bank account so that all income and outgoings are automatically entered onto the system.
Beckie Stevens is a qualified bookkeeper, so as well as managing the billing for Gareth, she can manage his bookkeeping for him. Each week Beckie reconciles the bank feed to ensure every credit and debit is accurately recorded. Gareth sends Beckie copies of invoices and expenses so that all expenses are included.
At year end Gareth’s accountant can access Xero to review all of the practice data which allows the year end accounts to be produced quickly and easily.
