Gareth Stables is a consultant orthopaedic and specialist knee surgeon based in Cheshire with over 20 years of experience. Gareth has been looking after patients with knee problems for over ten years, helping many people get active, mobile and to live pain-free. Gareth chose to specialise in helping those with knee difficulties because, through his own personal research, he found that a consultant who specialises in one specific area tends to get better results.
Gareth and his team always aim to put their patients front and centre of what they do. He is dedicated to providing a first-class service to his patients, offering a sympathetic and understanding ear and doing everything he can to ensure his patients receive the best possible results.
Gareth sees private patients at The Spire Cheshire Hospital and The Wilmslow Hospital.
Our Challenge
Gareth was previously using an ad hoc service with a small billing company however he wanted to bring all his patient services to Designated Medical to ensure his patients receive the best patient experience from his practice.
Our Medical PA team had recommended that Gareth use the Semble Practice Management System, which provides excellent functionality for medical billing. Our billing team set the system up to make billing as efficient as possible.
Our billing specialist, Emily Avici, manages the billing for Gareth and his patients on a daily basis. The main tasks involved in the ongoing management are raising and sending invoices, taking payments, and, most importantly, chasing any debtors to ensure maximum cash flow for Gareth.
Our Results
The Designated Billing team has worked to ensure complete automation of the billing function. The introduction of Semble to Gareth’s practice allows the integration of the financial management system XERO, allowing a two-way information path so any financial records are visible on the patient details. This has allowed full visibility for not only our Designated Medical PAs to rebook and cancel appointments but to Gareth himself.
We are providing a full credit control service comprising of calls and emails, all designed to match the patient experience of Gareth’s practice.
We can take payments over the phone or via payment link, meaning the patient has many options available 24/7 – this has led to a massive decrease in any outstanding debt.
Every Friday, Emily sends Gareth a report showing a summary of invoices raised, the payment received, and aged debt, so Gareth is always fully informed of progress.
Emily is a XERO certified bookkeeper who is studying accountancy with the AAT, she provides weekly bookkeeping to ensure the timely allocation of payments received and all expenses are coded, allowing Gareth’s accountants an accurate snapshot whenever required and ensuring year end accounts are quick and easy to produce.
